Radiographs, commonly called x-rays, are black and white pictures showing what is underneath the skin and muscles. X-rays allow us to see a variety of things, including broken bones, an enlarged heart, a foreign body in the intestinal tract, or a tumor. Occasionally, we may use a contrast material in the intestinal tract or the bladder that will highlight an abnormality. We have a digital x-ray machine, meaning that instead of using traditional film, the images are recorded directly on a computer.
